Located in Beltsville, Maryland, a few minutes north of the National Capital Beltway and the University of Maryland, SPARC boasts a specially designed, purpose built 20,000 square foot elite athletic training space boasting quality hardwood courts, turfed athletic performance training space, top of the line strength and conditioning equipment, a fully equipped combat sports gym for cross training, an athletic recovery lounge and physical therapy center, ample meeting space, and a 360-degree view mezzanine. Outfitted with top-of-the-line equipment and technology, SPARC utilizes AI tracking video cameras for instant feedback, measuring performance and improving technique in real-time. The first SPARC facility will open in Summer 2025. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor with the founding team and partner to turn the above into reality and grow the business. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Sports Performance Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge performance training programs, working closely with a multidisciplinary performance team. This role will focus on improving athlete performance, reducing injury risks, and developing industry-leading return-to-play protocols. Key Responsibilities Program Development & Implementation: Design, implement, and oversee individualized and group training programs for athletes across various sports and performance levels. Collaborate with strength and conditioning coaches, sports scientists, physical therapists, and medical professionals to integrate performance training with injury prevention and recovery strategies. Athlete Performance Monitoring: Utilize performance testing and data analytics to track athlete progress, target key performance indicators, and adjust training plans accordingly. Implement and oversee the use of technology and innovative tools to enhance training effectiveness. Injury Mitigation & Return-to-Play: Develop and oversee return-to-play protocols in collaboration with medical staff, ensuring safe and efficient recovery for injured athletes while keeping them active and objective driven during the rehab process. Conduct risk assessments and develop preventative strategies to minimize injury occurrence. Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of performance coaches, fostering professional growth and development. Coordinate with the comprehensive performance team to ensure a holistic approach to athlete development. Education & Research: Stay abreast of the latest research, trends, and innovations in sports performance and incorporate findings into practice. Conduct and present research or case studies to contribute to the advancement of the field. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field (Master's preferred). Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, NASM-PES). Minimum of 5 years of experience in sports performance coaching, preferably with experience in a leadership role. Proven track record of working with a range of athletes from a variety of sports genres, including amateurs and professionals. Strong knowledge of sports science, biomechanics, and injury prevention. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
