Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Human Resources Manager to support our team at a manufacturing facility in DeGraff, Ohio. With a workforce of fewer than 50 employees, this role offers the unique opportunity to oversee all aspects of HR while working closely with leadership to foster a positive and compliant workplace. This position requires on-site presence and reports directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices
  • Maintain and update employee records, handbooks, and HR policies
  • Lead employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary procedures as needed

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Manage recruitment processes, including job postings, screening, and interviews
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and training plans
  • Partner with hiring managers to assess staffing needs and succession planning

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Process weekly payroll or manage third-party payroll provider
  • Administer employee benefits including enrollment, changes, and annual open enrollment
  • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, benefits, and leave policies

Employee Engagement & Development

  • Support performance management processes and regular check-ins
  • Develop and coordinate employee training initiatives
  • Foster a culture of communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement

General Administration

  • Support safety compliance and OSHA recordkeeping in partnership with plant leadership
  • Assist with office management tasks and special projects as assigned by the President

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5 years of HR generalist experience; manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of HR laws and compliance requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
