Urology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Family Medical Center Status: Full-time Shift: Days (1st Shift) - 20 hours in Urology and 20 hours in Primary Care initially. Position Purpose: The Urology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive, specialized care to patients with urological conditions, collaborating with urologists and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of urological health needs across the lifespan. Responsibilities include taking medical histories, examining and treating patients, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and x-rays, making diagnoses, prescribing medications, recording progress notes, educating patients, and implementing therapy. Requirements: Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university in Urology/Advanced Practice Nursing. Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred. For Physician Assistants: Certification by NCCPA, licensure by Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies with PANCE accreditation. Licensure: IL Urology/Advanced Practice Nurse License, IL Physician Assistant License, IL Controlled Substance License. Certification: AANP or ANCC Board Certification. RN license and NP certification in urology or a related specialty preferred. Experience: Prior clinic experience preferred. Skills & Abilities: Computer proficiency, excellent customer service, strong written and verbal communication, active listening skills, and comfort working with patients of all ages. Responsibilities: Patient Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct physical examinations, review medical histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop diagnoses. Treatment Planning & Management: Create care plans, prescribe and manage medications, and optimize treatment strategies. Procedures & Interventions: Assist with or perform urological procedures within scope, provide wound care, and manage procedure-related complications. Patient Education & Support: Educate patients and families about conditions and self-care, and provide counseling. Clinic Visits & Ongoing Care: Manage routine and chronic urological conditions. Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including electronic health records, documenting all patient interactions and procedures. Collaboration & Communication: Work with healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care and communicate effectively with patients and families. Quality Improvement: Participate in initiatives to improve patient outcomes and stay current with evidence-based practices. Additional Duties: Proper disposal of sharps and biohazard materials, blood draws, data entry, organizing outpatient draw rooms, and other assigned duties. Skills: Computer and telephone system proficiency Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills Adherence to legal and ethical standards regarding blood collection Wage Range: $40.00/hr - $52.50/hr, based on experience and specific role.
